What We Do

The International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) was founded in 1969 and is the premier competition of its kind in the world. Its aim is to promote the quality and excellence of the world's best wines, spirits and liqueurs.

The Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition is the only truly Asian competition designed specifically for the tastes and consumption preferences of the Asian market.

Judging is conducted by Asia’s most esteemed wine judges from China, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and India – including the competition’s Director and Master of Wine, Hong Kong-based Debra Meiburg MW and Chinese food and wine expert Simon Tam.

The concept is simple. We take 10 of Britain’s classic dishes, from fish and chips to apple crumble via chicken tikka massala and roast lamb. Using a crack team of food and wine experts – including the world’s best sommelier Gerard Basset MS MW – we find the best wines to match with each dish.

The oldest, largest and most comprehensive Festival for agave and other Mexican spirits in the United States, the Spirits of Mexico is held where two cultures meet, at the location of California’s birthplace.

Whiskies of the World Expo was started in 2000 and has firmly established itself on the San Francisco event scene. Hundreds of Scotch, Bourbons, Rye and other whiskeys from Scotland, United States, Canada, Ireland, Japan and other countries are poured in tasting measures by distillery representatives, often the Master Distillers themselves.
